Morning Fruit Protein Salad from the Golden Temple Vegetarian Cookbook. Easy, fast and delicious!
Healthier and tastes better than Cheerios or other store-bought processed cereal. Fruit is the best thing you can have in the morning. It hydrates, has vitamins and other nutrients, easy on the digestive system and gives you immediate energy to get you going. Start your body engine the right way. I am posting the original recipe and then telling you the adaptations I made for me. This wonderful book was written in 70’s, before all the GMO stuff was made and all the pesticides got out of control so with some easy substitutions you can guarantee you getting all the goodness the recipe intended for when it was written.
- 2 bananas
- 1 pear
- 1 tablespoon protein powder
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2/3 to 1 cup soy milk
Slice Fruit and stir in protein powder, honey and cinnamon. Pour the milk over this mixture. WOW! Serves one.
If you are a normal size human it serves one. If you are petite like me, barely 5 feet tall (1.50 m) and weight less than 100 lbs (43 Kg) it may be much for you. I used only one banana in my case and a little bit less of everything else to match. I did use a whole pear in order not to waste it. So of course you want to have everything organic if you can, do as much as possible but don’t stress about it. Some non-organic fruit is better than no fruit at all. I am a honey lover so I use RAW honey, but you can use your favorite healthy sweetener like pure maple syrup or coconut nectar too! I used almond milk instead of soy milk. Soy is not good for my blood type, it gives me gas and the probability of being GMO is high. Also pick your favorite protein powder. I like Raw protein powder, which is vegan. I happened to have the chocolate flavor one at home, so this turned out even more delicious!
