Guacamole Spread Sandwich is “The Golden Temple Sandwich” from The Golden Temple Vegetarian Cookbook by Yogi Bhajan. This recipe is part of our #VegetarianChallenge, where I am attempting to make all the recipes from this vegetarian cookbook. However, I do make some alterations when I don’t have the right ingredients or simply just want to hihihi
For this sandwich we used the Guacamole spread recipe. Then for the sandwich part…
- Wholegrain bread slices
- Jack or cheddar cheese slices
- Spread a slice of bread with Guacamole spread.
- Top with jack or cheddar cheese.
- Place open face under broiler until cheese melts.
- Voilá! You are done and ready to eat.
The original recipe also has sliced mushrooms, and tomatoes. After pulling it out of the broiler you can also add some alfalfa sprouts. I left that out of mine because I found the guacamole spread enough for me.
Making this one was fun! Felt almost like a science experiment since I am not used to eating guacamole with those ingredients and I usually eat it as a side for Mexican food and not as the main ingredient in my sandwich. I offered to my niece who looked at me strange and said “I never had a guacamole sandwich…” To which my reply was “Yeah me neither! Until today! Try it!”
Cooking is all about trying new things. What other way will you learn if you don’t try it? This is one is approved!
