Eating healthy out can be quite the challenge.
Every week it seems there is a new food that is considered to be unhealthy. It can be overwhelming to say the least. Tuna has radiation from Japan, gluten is bad, dairy is bad, meat is bad so eat tofu instead except tofu is soy which is GMO so it is bad too… it can feel like it is impossible to eat something that is 100% healthy. I myself face this challenge often. I wanted to write this post so you can know that you are not alone and that there is no perfect diet. I live a healthy lifestyle yet I face the very same issues as you do. I am by no means perfect and my diet is not 100% healthy 100% of the time.
I eat out at least once a week. Every Thursday I go to a lunch organized by a group of Brazilian ladies. One of their favorite places is an Italian restaurant. I sit down look at the menu and it is like solving a puzzle. I want to get the gluten-free pasta, but wait the gluten-free one come with a cheese based sauce so I’m still eating dairy. Oh no! Here comes that basket of delicious bread! And butter to go with it. Ok I’ll just order a salad…but wait this salad has cheese too. Salmon and vegetables should be ok, but wait where is this Salmon from?
The conclusion I come to sometime is to just turn that all off! Stop analyzing my food and let my body tell me what I am craving, tomato sauce, zucchini, fish, spinach. Order it and be happy! When you think of something, good or bad you attract it. So if I sit here and think that this food is bad for me guess what? Yeah it will be because you are putting that energy into it. I enjoy eating and I love food so once I picked it I am going to enjoy every bite. I focus on the positive. This is delicious! I am enjoying myself. You do the best you can with the resources you have. I tell friends and clients often. Don’t be too radical. Yeah organic is better but you should NOT stop eating something just because it is not organic. Eating fruits and vegetables even if it not organic is still better than eating no fruits and vegetables. Let’s not take all the pleasure and fun out of eating.
That is why this website is happy and healthy! The happy (good energy) part is just as important as the healthy. I am happy that where I live there are a few healthy restaurants, some that are gluten, dairy and soy free, some vegan, there is even a few where I don’t have to worry at all. I know anything I order will be good. And I see more of them opening up. That makes eating healthy out definitely easier!
